Donations
Death's Omen MUD is a free, community-driven text-based role-playing game created for the enjoyment of our players. There is no cost to join, no subscription fees, and no microtransactions - the world is open to everyone.
Why Donations?
Maintaining the game and the online community does involve real-world expenses. These include:
- Domain registration and website hosting
- Dedicated server hosting for the MUD
- Email and security services
- Development tools and software that require monthly fees
We do not run the game for profit.
All contributions received will only be used for these technical and operational costs.
Donations Are Entirely Voluntary
Donations are never required to play, participate, or enjoy the full game experience.
Your access to in-game content is not connected in any way to whether you donate.
Giving money does not grant:
- Gameplay advantages
- Special items, skills, or characters
- Staff privileges, hidden access, or insider benefits
- Influence over in-game rulings or story outcomes
We are committed to maintaining fairness, equality, and the integrity of roleplay for all players.
Recognition of Support
While donations provide no in-game power or perks, we do want to show appreciation in a purely out-of-character way.
Donors may receive:
- A supporter title displayed next to their forum username
This is simply a thank-you - not a gameplay reward.
Code License Compliance
Death's Omen MUD utilizes the DikuMUD codebase, which is licensed for non-commercial use only.
We strictly follow those terms.
- Donations go solely toward necessary hosting and development costs
- No staff member is personally profiting from donated funds
- The game remains free and open to all players
The donation system exists so we can continue providing and improving the experience without compromising the free nature of the game or violating license restrictions.
Thank You
If you choose to support the project financially, we are deeply grateful - but we want every player to feel equally welcome regardless.
Your presence, creativity, and storytelling are what keep Death's Omen alive.
Thank you for helping us keep the world running and growing.
